Guidelines, Instructions, and Templates for Preparing an Educator’s Promotion Packet / Professional Dossier

An Educator’s Promotion Packet / Professional Dossier is designed to showcase the teaching and/or educational leadership activities of faculty with a teaching emphasis. This webpage provides links to an overview of the review process and helpful resources for preparing your promotion packet in the format required for review by the RTA External Peer Review of Teaching (EPRT) Initiative. Preparing a compelling dossier that is detailed and data-driven takes time, so make sure you start early!

	Overview of the Process (website) This webpage provides a quick overview of the process of submitting a promotion packet to the RTA EPRT for review, and how to get some coaching help, plus a few tips.
	Packet Overview (pdf) This document provides a short overview of the components of the promotion packet. Note the recommendation to include a COVER SECTION with a hyperlinked table of contents. STEP ONE: Select the domains of educator activity that you have been active in. See the Educator’s CV and Teaching Portfolio documents for explanations of each domain of educator activity.

	“Educator’s CV” (pdf) This document is intended to serve as a guideline and to provide prompts to consider as you develop your Educator’s CV. Please note: Few faculty are likely to be active in more than one or two domains early in their career. See the Teaching Portfolio webpage below for examples of CV entries.
	Teaching Portfolio (reflective document) (website) The REFLECTIVE component of your promotion packet provides a summary of your teaching and educational leadership activities, captures your teaching philosophy, maps your 5-year goals, and showcases up to 5 carefully selected teaching activities/accomplishments you wish to highlight. This webpage provides an overview document, links to downloadable templates, and examples of completed templates for each domain.

	Supporting Materials / Appendices (pdf) The supporting materials/appendices should consist of judiciously chosen evidence to support your promotion packet. This is also where you can append materials to support the activities you highlighted in your Teaching Portfolio. See this document for suggested elements to include in the appendices.
